
Mrs. Watson was born in Kingston, Georgia on October 27, 1926, daughter of the late George Byrd Hood and the late Annie Sisson Hood. She graduated from Cass High School in 1943.
She was a member of West Rome Baptist Church for over 60 years and for many years worked in both the Sunbeams and Royal Ambassadors programs there. She was in later years also a member of the Prime Time Singers senior adult choir.
She was employed by the Georgia Power Company at the time it still operated the bus service, and later worked in the line department, appliance sales, and appliance repair.
Mrs. Watson was married to the late Grady Barron Watson on October 19, 1947. They enjoyed traveling and taking tours together. He preceded her in death in 1999. Mrs. Watson was also preceded in death by a daughter, Brenda Ann.
She is survived by two sons, Barry Watson and his wife Cathy of Rome, and Bruce Watson and his wife Kerri of Silver Creek, 4 grandsons, Matt Watson and his wife Alison, Daniel Watson, Michael Watson and his wife Allison, and Andrew Watson, 3 great grandsons, Collin Watson, Cooper Watson, Aidan Watson and a soon to be born great granddaughter, Evelyn Ruth Watson.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 17, 2011, at 2 p.m. at the Fifth Avenue Baptist Church, Rome, with the Rev. John Geaney officiating. Interment will be in the East View Cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at the Fifth Avenue Baptist Church on Wednesday from 1 until 2 p.m., and at other hours at their respective residences, Barry, 10 Dover Dr., Rome, or Bruce, 27 Ridgeview Dr., Silver Creek.
