Paul A. Postell

Mr. Postell was born in Rome, GA. November 18, 1926. He was the son of the late Paul Washington Postell and Kathleen Estelle Hatfield Postell. He was also preceded in death in February of 2008 by his wife Mrs. Louise C. Postell.

Mr. Postell was a graduate of Rome Boys High in 1944. He later joined the United States Merchant Marines. Following his service in the Merchant Marines he was employed by Georgia Power. He started his career as a lineman advancing to foreman before retiring after 45 years of dedicated service. He and his wife Louise were very active members of West Rome Baptist Church. He served as a Deacon and Usher. He was a member of the West Rome Senior Men’s Sunday School Class. He loved deer hunting and was a life time member of the National Rifle Association. He and Louise spent many years traveling the United States and Europe with Christian Tours and their many friends from West Rome Baptist Church. The family would like to give a special “thank you” to all the many care givers at Winthrop West for the love and care given to “Red” as well as their support. We would also like to thank the staff of “Help at Home” and Heyman Hospice Care.

Survivors include one daughter; Susan Ingram (Ronald) of Rome, and one son; Richard Postell (Kathy) of Jasper, GA, four grandchildren; Chris Ingram (Tammy), Lara Stiles (Mike), Jennie Cleghorn (Bryan) and Scott Green, great-grandchildren; Peyton and Chloe Ingram, Eden Taylor and Kori Stiles, Courtney Stiles, Gracie and Noah Cleghorn and four great-great grandchildren.

The family received friends Wednesday July 15, 2015 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Daniel’s Funeral Home. A service was held at 1:00 p.m. following the visitation in the Thomas B. Griffin Memorial Chapel of Daniel’s Funeral Home with Rev. Ken Oates officiating. Interment followed at East View Cemetery. Flowers were accepted or memorial contributions may be made to: Home Bound Team Ministry, West Rome Baptist Church 914 Shorter Ave Rome, GA. 30165.
