Robert D. Gilliland

Mr. Gilliland was born in Marshalltown, Iowa, on July 18, 1927, the son of the late Robert Henry Gilliland and Wava Grace Johnston Gilliland.

Mr. Gilliland served in the U. S. Naval Service from 1945-46 as an aviation cadet. Prior to retirement in 1995, he was employed by Zartic, Inc. as Quality Control Manager.

Survivors include his wife, Clare Lacey Gilliland and eight children, Laura Burns, Prospect, KY, Suzanne Scannell, Pee Wee Valley, KY, Shaunee Scannell, Louisville, KY, Kerry Gilliland, Mt. Washington, KY, Kerry Lyon, El Paso, TX, Christopher McGoldrick, Rochester, NY, David McGoldrick, Atlanta, and Kilissa Cissoko, Buffalo, NY; 13 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends in Rome at Daniel’s Funeral Home on Monday, March 14, 2011, from 6 until 8 p.m.

A memorial service will be held at a later date in Louisville, KY.
