Mr. Wheeler was a native of Rome and was born on December 9, 1930 to Jules Vern and Opal Gertrude (Smith) Wheeler. He was proceeded in death by his parents and wife, Eula "Frances" Wheeler.
Mr. Wheeler earned a degree in education, after which he was commissioned into the United States Air Force on January 8, 1951. While in the Air Force he was educated in the Russian Language at the Presidia of Monterey in California. He was a private and served as an interpreter. During his service he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, The United Nations Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal as well as an ROK Presidential Unit Citation.
Mr. Wheeler was an accountant at the General Electric plant in Rome, Georgia for many years.
Mr. Wheeler was entombed with a private family gathering at the Oaknoll Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Thursday, February 9th, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. with his loving wife Frances.
