Born on July 16, 1963, to Joseph and Martha Emerson, Denise graduated from Model High School in 1981. During her high school years, she played the clarinet and proudly served as a majorette in the marching band—a remarkable accomplishment given that she taught herself to twirl a baton without a single formal lesson. She went on to attend Georgia Highlands College to pursue her Associate's degree. With a natural eye for style, Denise built a career as a fashion sales associate, working in high-end boutiques across Virginia-Highland and Atlanta.
Among Denise’s many rare and beautiful gifts, her calming presence was perhaps her greatest. She possessed a wonderful sense of humor, often sharing a funny story or a lighthearted confession to put others at ease, and she was truly loved by everyone who knew her.
While Denise accomplished much in her life, she considered her daughter, Mary Kate, to be her greatest achievement and her life's truest masterpiece. The bond they shared was filled with love, laughter, and mutual admiration. Denise poured her whole heart into motherhood, deeply treasuring every moment she spent with her family, who served as her anchor in life.
In addition to her deep devotion to Mary Kate, Denise shared an unbreakable, lifelong bond with her sisters, Joleigh and Michelle. Together, they navigated life’s ups and downs, serving as each other’s constant source of joy, love, and unwavering support. Alongside her profound love for her family, Denise was defined by her strong Christian faith. Her life beautifully reflected the message of 1 Corinthians 13:13: “And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.” She believed that love is eternal, constantly growing, and the most important treasure one can ever possess.
Denise is survived by her parents, Joe and Martha Emerson; her beloved daughter, Mary Kate Moody; her sisters, Joleigh Astin (Stan) of Rome, GA, and Michelle Roberts of Rome, GA; and her nephew, Grayson Jones of Athens, GA.
Messages of condolence may be shared with the family by visiting the funeral home's website and signing the online guestbook. Daniel’s Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the care and services for Mrs. Terri Denise Moody.
