Mr. Thomas Joseph Saltino

Born on October 18, 1937, at Fort McPherson Military Base in Atlanta, Georgia, Tom was the son of Thomas J. Saltino Sr. and Dorothy Bento Saltino. He grew up alongside his three older sisters, Ardis Ruza, LaVerne Doane, and Jackie Peacock. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Ardis and LaVerne.

Tom met the love of his life, Emily Davis, while they were students at West Georgia College. Their 62 years of marriage was a beautiful partnership built on love, faith, and a shared commitment to serving others. Together they faithfully served at First United Methodist Church, where they were active members in their Upper Room Fellowship Sunday School class and taught Sunday School to the youth for many years, touching countless lives through their example and devotion.

A respected member of the Rome community, Tom was actively involved in many civic and service organizations. He was a longtime member of the Rome Rotary Club, the Marine Corps League, The Exchange Club of Rome and the Floyd County Republican Party, where he generously gave of his time and talents in support of causes he believed in.

Tom enjoyed a successful career in sales, spending the majority of his professional life working for Wrangler Jeans in the kids division of The Blue Bell Corporation. Known for his warmth, integrity, and ability to connect with people, he later put those same talents to work supporting his wife’s fundraising efforts for Murphy-Harpst Children’s Centers, helping provide hope and opportunities for children in need.

Above all else, Tom cherished his family. He is survived by his daughter, Jill Saltino Graham and her husband, Mat; his son, Thomas J. Saltino III and his wife, Amanda; and his four beloved grandchildren, Davis Graham, Clara Graham, Joseph Saltino, and John Saltino. He is also survived by his sister, Jackie Peacock, along with many extended family members and dear friends.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Tom’s devoted and patient caregivers, Tracy Bennett, Terena Bennett, and Mandi Wells, whose kindness and compassion brought him comfort, companionship, and countless smiles. They lovingly hosted hot chocolate parties at all hours of the night, introduced Tom to country music and Starbucks, and filled his days with joy, laughter, and genuine friendship. Their extraordinary care will never be forgotten.

The family finds comfort in knowing that Tom has been reunited with his beloved wife, Emily, and all those who have gone before him.

The funeral service for Mr. Saltino will be held on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at eleven o’clock in the morning in the sanctuary of First United Methodist Church of Rome with Rev. Gil Watson officiating. A private family interment will follow the service at Myrtle Hill Cemetery.

The family of Mr. Saltino will receive family and friends on Monday, July 20, 2026 from 5 o’clock in the afternoon until 7 o'clock in the evening at Daniels Funeral Home.
