Mr. Byars was born January 25, 1933. He was the son of the late William Walter Byars and Belle Atkins Byars. He was also preceded in death by his wife Janice Alexander Byars on October 23, 2010 to whom he was married for 55 years, and one son; William Marion Byars, Jr.
Mr. Byars was a member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church where he served as an usher and a former Sr. Warden.
Survivors include one daughter; Rebecca Byars Jones and her husband Lee, of Rome, and one granddaughter; Abigail Rebecca Jones.
A memorial service was held Saturday August 24, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church with the Rev John Herring officiating. Mr. Byars ashes were interred in the memory garden of St. Peter’s following the service. The family
received friends following that service in Daniel Hall of St. Peter’s. In lieu of flowers the family respectfully requests that memorial contributions be made to The Capital Campaign Fund of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 101 East 4th Ave. Rome, GA. 30161.
