

Mr. Mitchell was born in Rome on January 21, 1940, son of the late Howard M. Mitchell and Laura Mae (Estelle) Wilson. He was preceded in death by his wife, Julia Ann Summerville Mitchell to whom he was married September 27, 1968, his first wife, Alice Faye Williams Mitchell, two sons William Cleveland Mitchell (Beth) and Edward Duane Mitchell, a daughter Martha Ann Mitchell, and two sons-in-law, Anthony Earl Ingle and Jeffery Franklin Duck.
Mr. Mitchell was a union pipefitter with Local 72 and accrued more than 45 years of service as a journeyman. He was of the Christian faith and prior to Covid-19 attended Second Avenue Methodist Church. Mr. Mitchell enjoyed fishing, watching NASCAR, the Atlanta Braves, and old Westerns. He was a proud father and grandfather. He attended Pepperell High School.
Survivors include two daughters, MeCindy Faye Kimbrell (Ken) and Terrie Lynn Duck both of Rome; six grandchildren, Alex Kimbrell, Jennifer Rogers (Tripp), Aaron Ingle, Will Mitchell, Jake Mitchell, and Chloe Duck. Five great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held Friday, September 23, 2022, at 11 a.m. at Second Avenue United Methodist Church with the Reverend Millie Kim officiating. Interment will follow in Floyd Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends on September 23, 2022 from 10 a.m.until the funeral hour.
The family would like to express gratitude to the staff of Pruitt Hospice and Pruitt Home Healthcare and the members of Second Avenue Methodist Church for their continued support of Mr. Mitchell and his family during his lengthy illness.
