Wilma Janelle Wood Nesbitt

Mrs. Nesbitt was born in Resaca, GA , on August 17, 1925, the daughter of the late Weston Andrew Wright and Cora Franklin Wright. She was preceded in death by her first husband of 49 years, Hoyt B. Wood, in 1993, and by her second husband, Pierce R. Nesbitt, in 2003. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Kathy J. Wood, by a son, Darrell L. Wood, and by eight brothers and sisters.

Mrs. Nesbitt was a longtime employee of Bell South and AT & T prior to retirement. She was a member of the New Echota Baptist Church in Calhoun and was an avid bridge player.

Survivors include one son, David Hoyt Wood, and his wife, Marta, Ellijay; a daughter-in-law, Shirley Wood, Rome; four grandchildren, Deanna Wood, Marietta, Kurt Wood, Rockmart, David Matthew Wood, Locust Grove, and Laurel E. Wood, Mechanicsburg, PA; six great grandchildren; and one brother, Mac Wright, and his wife, Shirley, Fairmount.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, November, 21, 2010 at 3 p.m. at the Thomas B. Griffin Memorial Chapel of Daniel’s Funeral Home with the Rev. Don Walters officiating. Interment will be in the Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Jack Lyle, Boland Williams, Richard Weaver, Jim Leatherwood and David Smith.

The family will receive friends at Daniel’s Funeral Home on Saturday, November 20, from 5 until 7 p.m.
