Kimberley loving leaves behind her father Leslie Kirk of Plenty, SK; her siblings Aaron & Deanne Kirk of Stranraer, SK and their son, Zachary, Christopher & Candace Kirk of Southey, SK and their daughters Breanna, Niomi, and Alexis; Diana & Brent Koenning of Cudworth, SK and their daughters Joelle & Julia. Aunt & Uncles – Betty & Walter Baker of Lloydminister, AB; Joanne & Al Hannah of Harris, SK; Glenn Cormack (Patty) of Rimby, AB; David Cormack of Lloydminster, AB & families; Perry & Debbie Cormack of Dodsland, SK; Bernice LaCert of Snowden, SK. Kimberley now joins her mother Christena Margaret Kirk (nee Cormack), Grandparents Christena & George Cormack and Edna & Reginald Kirk and Uncle George LaCert. Kimberley grew up on the family farm with her dad at the family helm as her mom was placed in the Kerrobert Hospital for care when the children were young. Many days were spent outside building forts, playing with animals and enjoying nature. Kim also worked on the family farm helping with harrowing on the open cab tractor and coming inside covered in dirt! She enjoyed her friends and fellow classmates very much, laughing and playing pranks, going for walks. She was a member of the drama club in school, enjoyed skiing at the old Twin Towers Ski Hill and curling in the Plenty or Dodsland Rink. At the age of 26, Kim was diagnosed with a rare brain atrophy called Spinocerebellar Ataxia type 26, which was the same disease her mother Margaret had and passed away from in 2005. The disease was completely debilitating, leaving the body unable to perform any tasks. However debilitating the disease got, leaving her without a voice, she still had a strong spirit and loving smile when her family, friends and staff walked in the room. She was lovingly cared for by the Kindersley Nursing Home from 2004-2008 and then was moved closer to her sister, Diana & Brent’s family in Cudworth in 2008 where she also received loving care. Although Kim’s time on earth was short, she made a profound impact on her family, community and many others. We remember her laugh, her smile, her genuine nature and steadfast love of animals, friends and family. Her love of art has been passed through to her very special nieces and nephew and we all take joy in watching them create new pieces of art just as Kim would have wanted. Kim now joins her mother in Heaven and is with the angels! She is no longer suffering and for that we are grateful. She will be greatly missed, but forever loved and felt in our hearts. A Memorial Service was held on Saturday, February 2, 2013 from the Plenty United Church. Memorial Donations in memory of Kim may be made to the Cudworth Health Care Facility or to the Movement Disorder Clinic – Foothills Hospital 1403 29 Street NW Calgary, AB T2N 2T9.
