1981 - 2010
The Strutt family sadly announces the tragic passing of Owen Garnet Strutt on September 23, 2010, at the age of 29. Owen was born on June 8, 1981, in Rosetown, SK and was raised on a cattle and grain farm near Brock, SK. He went to elementary school in Brock, and completed most of his high school years in Rosetown, but spent one memorable year at Notre Dame in Wilcox, SK. Owen had a competitive nature and loved to make everything a game, but the game that Owen loved most of all was hockey. Every year Owen would proudly proclaim that his favorite team, The Toronto Maple Leafs, were going to win the Stanley Cup. Owen had a way of touching the lives of everyone he met; no one had more friends than he did and they meant the world to him. Nothing would make Owen light up more than the sight of his nephews and niece; he became a kid himself when he was around them. Owen is survived by his parents Ken and Lois (nee Simpson) Strutt; his beloved baby, Blue; his brothers Mark (Lindsay) and their children Gavin, Vaughn, and Geneva of Oyen, SK, Leon (Raelyn) and their children Ty, Connor, and Kaden of Leader, SK, and Kyle (Amber) of Kindersley, SK. Owen is also survived by his Grandparents Glen and Bette Strutt of Brock, SK and Cliff and Joyce Simpson of Rosetown, SK. He was predeceased by his Uncle Timothy Strutt and Cousin Dustin McConnell. Go Riders! Go Leafs! The Funeral Service was held on Tuesday, September 28, 2010 at the Rosetown United Church with Pastor Dave Wicks officiating. A Private Family Interment followed in the Brock Cemetery. Memorial Donations in memory of Owen may be made to the Brock Rink Association. Clements Rosetown Funeral Home entrusted with the arrangements.
