Betty was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 59 years, Norman E. Uden. They were high school sweethearts and shared a lifetime of love and devotion until Norm’s passing in May 2010. She was also preceded in death by her dearly loved siblings: Annie Mohlman Rolls (husband Dale), Russell Mohlman (wife Betty), Wesley Mohlman (wife Janie), and Kenneth Mohlman (wife Betty).
Over the course of her life, Betty held a remarkable variety of jobs, including serving as a teacher in a one-room rural school, working in an ammunition factory during the Korean Conflict, sewing as a factory seamstress, serving as an orderly at a mental health facility, editing a local newspaper, and working as a secretary and property manager for a U.S. housing site for senior citizens. She also drove an ambulance and later retired in the early 1980s from the City of Vallejo Accounting Department, where she worked as a bookkeeper.
Above all, Betty cherished her family and her lifelong friends. She was known for her love of card games—and for winning them—her enjoyment of traveling to visit family and friends in Idaho, Southern California and Nebraska, her interest in political current events, and her fearless habit of always speaking her mind.
Betty is survived by her daughters, Connie L. Uden Werth (husband Randy) of Citrus Heights, California, and Brenda L. Uden Coker of Sacramento, California; and by her grandchildren, Kennedy M. Coker (husband Sean Kennedy), currently stationed in South Korea, and Steven N. Werth of Citrus Heights, California.
Betty will be interred beside her husband at Fairfield City Cemetery in Nebraska. A graveside service is tentatively planned for early Fall, with further details to be announced.
She is now in God’s loving care and reunited in heaven with those who went before her.
