Born in Russia in March of 1931, her family fled from Greece during WWII; she spent her elementary years in Russia, before returning to Greece. Her childhood experiences were incredible and unimaginable, yet her strength led her to happier times.
To make a better life for herself and her family, in 1964, she found a priest to sponsor her trip and sailed by ship to find her American dream. She built an amazing life and home, which she opened to all who crossed her path. Her summers were spent travelling to Greece with her daughter, visiting family and friends, and enjoying the country she once had to leave behind.
Vera is survived by her husband, Jack of 55 years, her daughter & son in law, Jackie & Steve, and her three grandsons, Jake, Christopher & Joey. She loved nothing more than her family, but her three grandsons were her entire world.
Vera’s stories and struggles she reminisced of were unprecedented, limitless, painful yet full of joy. She was strong, caring, giving, kind, and most of all she loved being around others. She will be missed more than she could ever know.
