Born March 14, 1941 in Redding, California, to William A. and Nadine Haschke. Dave went home to be with the Lord December 7, 2011, in Carmichael, California, suddenly after years of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Dave was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers. Survived by his loving wife of 17 years, Cindy (Lucinda), 3 stepchildren, loved as his own, Stacy McCarthy (Matt) of Roseville, Kristopher Melleby (Wendy) of Rancho Cucamunga, and Karen Wilbrun (Brian) of Richburg, SC, and a sister in WI, 9 loving grandchildren, David, Amanda, Nicole, Megan, Caitlin, Brandon, Emily Kistopher Jr., and DJ, and numerous nieces and nephews. Many other children considered him their bonus grandpa as well, and his beloved Brittanys, Frosty and Remy.
After graduation at Highland High School, he spent 4 years in the US Navy, 3 years on the USS Midway. From 1965 to 2002, Dave worked for Pacific Bell as a Communication Worker, Union Steward Chief Steward, Area Director and Fact Finder for the Union, and a National Rep for drug and alcohol employee assistance. He went back to school to become certified as a counselor and joined the faculty of Breining Institute as a counselor/educator; he was a leader in many other activities.
Dave did not have any children from his previous marriage, but he loved to say when he married Cindy that he became a father of 3, and a grandfather all in one year. Dave really enjoyed his grandchildren, and his two dogs, taking them camping and traveling around the States. He was an avid sportsman and loved to fish and hunt. He shared his passions with his family and friends, and offered wise council to those in need.
He loved spending time with his many friends, making people laugh and was willing to help where ever help was needed. Dave will be sadly missed.
