David Paul Hordyk, born May 2, 1975 in Sacramento, California, surrounded by family he went to be with the Lord on May 12, 2012, in San Diego California. Dave grew up in Sacramento where he attended Capitol Christian High School where playing football was his favorite subject. He married his college sweetheart, Keris Bush Hordyk, in 1996 while they were students at Seattle Pacific University. Dave majored in psychology and while in college began working as a counselor in the Washington State Youth Authority where his interest in law enforcement began. Dave was a devoted and loving husband, father, son, brother, grandson, nephew and friend to so many who will miss him greatly. Dave adored his wife Keris and was a lovingly proud father of Makayla, Samantha and Jacob. His very close knit family includes parents Pinky and Dennis Hordyk, sister and brother-in-law Jenny and Ernie Ruoff and their children, and grandmother, Helen Gadwa as well as many aunts and uncles. Dave was an inspiration to all as he fought a valiant, year-long battle with a very rare form of cancer. David felt honored to serve as a Special Agent for the California Department of Justice for the past 13 years where he also served as Range Master. He enjoyed many outdoor activies like golf, hiking, and family outings. One of his greatest pleasures was tracking down a good restaurant and everyone enjoyed his skills as a grill master. His family was the joy of his life! He will be greatly missed by all, we all look forward to being reunited again.
Celebration of David’s life will take place on Saturday May 19th at 1:00 pm. at Bayside West Church, 10020 Foothills Blvd., Roseville, CA 95747
