Dorothy H. McFarland, age 80, passed away peacefully in Roseville, CA, surrounded by loved ones on August 18, 2015. She was born on June 22, 1935 in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada to Fairfield Horne and Gladys (Downer) Horne.
Dorothy attended school in Lethbridge, actively participating in equestrian clubs and later pursuing semi-professional ice skating. Dorothy attended University of British Columbia in Vancouver where she was a member of the Delta Zeta Chapter of the Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority. She graduated with a degree in Liberal Arts in 1956. Following graduation Dorothy and her girlfriends traveled Europe by train and met an American college administrator who offered her the opportunity to work in the Admissions department at Stanford University in Palo Alto, CA. McFarland and his wife Sandra and two grandchildren Kevin and Emily of Granite Bay, CA, and son Craig S.
