Ellen Ann Moustris-Newman went to meet the Lord on February 5, 2017. The daughter of Anna and Sam Stamas, Ellen was a lifetime resident of Roseville for 89 years. Her family owned Roseville Laundry where she worked while growing up. She attended and graduated from Roseville High School in 1945. She married Danny Moustris on September 7, 1947 and they remained married until his death in February, 1979. They had one daughter, Christy Moustris. Ellen married Norman Newman in June, 1986 and they remained married until his death in 2016. Ellen worked for over 30 years at McClellan Field were she retired as a procurement officer. She enjoyed competitive bowling, golf, and square dancing. But her real passion was her love of the Lord. She hosted many family bible studies, regularly attended church bible studies, and wrote religious commentaries on the gospels several of which were printed in church literature. Her most cherished achievement was being one of the founding members of St. Anna Greek Orthodox Church of Roseville. She served as a member of parish council and church secretary, was actively involved in the Saint Anastacia Philoptochos Chapter, and was Greek Food Festival Marketing Chairman for many years. Ellen is remembered as one of the "Golden Pillars" of the St. Anna Church. Ellen is survived by a large and loving family who will miss her candor, wit, and spirit. They include her daughter Christy, son-in-law Wes, beloved grandchildren Eric and Danelle, sister Katie (Allen), brother Paul (Debbie), and numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be held at St. Anna Greek Orthodox Church at 1001 Stone Canyon Road, Roseville, California. The Trisagion will be Tuesday, February 14th at 6:30 pm, and funeral services on Wednesday, February 15th at 11 am. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the St. Anna Greek Church Building Fund. May her memory be eternal.
