December 21,1928 - November 11, 2021
Elsie passed away of natural causes, peacefully at home at the age of 92 on November 11, 2021 surrounded by her loving family. She was preceded in death by her husband Alfred (Fred) of 42 years, her mother Mary, her sister Lorraine Silvas (Aunt Wayne), brother Paul Garcia and two of her grandchildren, Michelle Ballejos and Alex Hing.
She was born on December 21, 1928 in Denver, Colorado. She and her family moved to Lincoln, CA. when she was three months old. She was raised in Lincoln and graduated from Lincoln Union High School in 1947. She met Fred, the love of her life at a dance in Sacramento; they married and moved to Sacramento and had eight children, Rodney (Michelle), Paula, Laurie (Gary), Edward (Michelle) Julianna (Rick), David (Julie), Christina (Bob) and Michael (Nichole).
She had a 33 year career at the Blue Diamond California Almond Growers (AKA the nut house) which she enjoyed working as a Quality Control Inspector. She loved to go to the casinos to play her favorite Red, White & Blue dollar machine, travel with her kids, eat desserts, sit for hours in the sunshine and enjoyed watching the Raiders and her occasional Crown on the rocks.
She was a wonderful loving mother who managed to work full time and raise eight children while being motherly to many of her children's friends. She had a great sense of humor and wasn't afraid to tell you that you needed to lose a few pounds.
She was a loving "Grams" to 25 Grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren and one on the way. She was also loved by many nieces, nephews, friends and her favorite granddog Kahuna.
