

Elvia Sandoval Melendrez, born in Ogden, Utah on September 1, 1931, passed away peacefully in Roseville, California on November 18, 2024. She leaves behind a legacy of love and resilience, cherished by her family and friends.
Elvia was the beloved wife to late husbands Ruben Sanchez and Jesus Melendrez and mother of nine children: Preceded in death by her eldest daughter Connie Sanchez Ramos, and her husband Jesus Ramos; Mark Sanchez (preceded in death by his wife Terri Reno Sanchez); Christina Zavala (preceded in death by her husband, Eugenio Zavala ); Richard Sanchez, wife Elizabeth Sanchez; Sebastian Sanchez (preceded in death); Anna Sanchez Kao (preceded in death by her husband, Frederick Kao); Adam Sanchez; Elvia Melendrez, husband Antonio Robles; and Louie Sanchez. She is survived by 31 grandchildren, 69 great-grandchildren, and 21 great-great-grandchildren.
Throughout her life, Elvia demonstrated an unwavering work ethic and dedication to the welfare of her family. She began her career working in the fields at just 14 years old and later worked at a cannery at the age of 16. Her diverse career included positions at an armory and culminated in over 17 years of dedicated service at the Roseville Convalescent hospital, where she received countless recognitions for her contributions. Elvia also gave generously, donating to the military, animal shelters, and other nonprofit organizations.
In her younger years, Elvia enjoyed knitting and crocheting beautiful blankets and doilies. She later found joy in watching The Price Is Right, western movies, Jerry Springer, and Steve Wilkos. Elvia loved going to IHOP, enjoyed tending to her garden, and was renowned for making delicious stuffing and yams for Thanksgiving. Her signature look, characterized by her bobby pin curls and red lipstick, was always complemented by her strong personality. Elvia had a profound love for music, particularly for her favorite musician, Javier Solis. She shared her passions and traditions with her family, creating lasting memories that will be cherished for generations.
A viewing for Elvia will be held on Monday, December 9, 2024, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Lambert Funeral Home, 400 Douglas Blvd, Roseville, CA 95678. A funeral mass will follow from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at St. Rose Catholic Church, 615 Vine Avenue, Roseville, CA 95678. A burial service will take place from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM at Roseville Cemetery, 421 Berry Street, Roseville, CA 95678. A family gathering will be held from 2:00 PM to 5:30 PM at Rusch Park Community Center - Sunrise/Patio Room, 7801 Auburn Blvd.Citrus Heights, CA 95610.
Elvia will be remembered for her warmth and kindness, as well as her sassy, honest, and welcoming nature. She had a unique way of connecting with everyone around her, leaving a lasting impression on all who knew her. Elvia's beautiful legacy will continue to inspire and uplift those she touched throughout her life. Elvia always said she was a pioneer, her final act was to donate her brain to science to
support future research.
