Mama Lipa was born to Juan and Eduarda Perez on a ranch outside of Huisquilco, Mexico. She was one of 9 children. From an incredibly young age, Mama Lipa worked tirelessly in a Hacienda, as well as, assisted in raising her siblings. She embraced hard work and caring for others.
Mama Lipa married Papa Leno in December of 1955; migrated to Newcastle, California on
June 30, 1959. She had her two children, Ramon Quezada in December of 1959, and Maria Quezada in March of 1963. Both Mama Lipa and Papa Leno spent their time working in the fruit orchards in Newcastle and Penryn. In 1964, they would later settle and build their legacy in Roseville which included donating funds towards the Saint Rose of Lima Parish that we have today. She was a devout Catholic and served the Catholic Community over a 50-year span.
Mama Lipa spent her life serving family, neighbors, and community in offering child-care, meals, and her home as a place of rest. She enjoyed reading the Bible, crocheting, cooking, and caring for babies.
Mama Lipa would become the model of unconditional love and service for the remainder of her life. Her kitchen always open to feed anyone hungry; her arms always open to receive you in her home.
Our Mama Lipa-our angel-rest in peace with Papa Leno.
