Frances Manning

Frances Lucille (Walsh) Manning, known to family and friends as Fran, passed away on August 3, 2015. Fran was born on October 30, 1935 in Brooklyn, New York. She was the only child of Patrick and Barbara Walsh, immigrants to the US from Donegal, Ireland in the early 1920s. Fran grew up in Brooklyn, New York in the parish of St. Teresa Avila, and attended an all-girls Catholic school. One of her fondest childhood memories was spending days with her father in his barber shop.

On October 6, 1956 Fran married Tom, her husband of 58 years, who preceded her in death on September 29, 2014. Tom and Fran were devoted parents to Tom, Ken, Barbara, and John. Fran was very involved in her children’s school years acting as class mom, as the team mom for her son’s sports teams, and as Barbara’s Girl Scout leader and cheer squad mom. Tom and Fran left Massapequa Park, New York and moved to San Jose, California in 1979 and in 1993 they relocated to Rocklin, California to be closer to their children.

The joy of Fran’s life was being a proud grandmother to Kyle, Brittany, Samantha, Brandon, Shannon, and Ryan. She relished every moment that she was able to spend with each of them, never missing birthdays, holidays, and attending all of her grandkids school, sports, and music events.

She was a surrogate mom and grandma to many of her children’s and grandchildren’s friends. She was a kind and loving woman with a generous heart, whose home was always open. She was a friend to everyone she met.

Fran is survived by her children Tom, Ken, Barbara, John, and John’s wife Danielle. She is also survived by her grandchildren Kyle, Brittany, Samantha, Brandon, Shannon and Ryan, other family members including Tracy and Barbara and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

We love you and you will be dearly missed by all. Until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of his hand.

Visitation to be held at Lambert Funeral Home Chapel, located at 400 Douglas Boulevard in Roseville, California, on Friday August 7 at 6:00 p.m., followed by the rosary and funeral services at 7:00 p.m. Burial services will be held on Saturday August 8 at 11:00 a.m. at Calvary Catholic Cemetery, located at 7101 Verner Avenue in Sacramento, California.
