Born in Warm Springs, CA on November 25, 1932, Frank was the youngest of three children born to Senhichi and Shimo (Hayashi) Nakamura. His early years were spent in the south bay until he and his family were interred at Tule Lake during WWII. After the war, Frank was supported and raised by his older brother, Kameo, for which he was eternally grateful.
Frank enlisted in the Air Force in 1953 and entered the Air Force Academy, where he trained as a radar navigator. He served at various bases throughout the U.S., as well as serving in Guam. He later flew reconnaissance during the Vietnam War. Frank was awarded several medals during his long military career, including a commendation medal and Air Medal for meritorious service. In 1973, Frank retired from the Air Force. He and his family moved to Sacramento where he worked for the U.S. Postal Service until his retirement in 1998.
In San Francisco on February 15, 1958, Frank married his friend of many years and the love of his life, Adeline Miyama. Together they raised their daughter, Lynda, building a strong family unit that had supported him throughout his life. He is survived by his caring wife of 58 years, and his devoted daughter, as well as a brother-in-law, sister-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews.
Frank enjoyed being outdoors, working in his yard and quarreling over the fruits of his labor with the squirrels…a quarrel that he often didn’t win. His avid passion for sports, especially baseball and football, was well known by family and friends.
Burial will be in Sacramento Valley National Cemetery, Dixon. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 10, 2016 at 12:00p.m. at The Dante Club, 2330 Fair Oaks Blvd, Sacramento.
