Fred Wight passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on March 25, 2018. Fred was born Oct. 22, 1928 in Oakland, CA to Frederick Lawrence Wight and Cora Josephine Majors Wight. After graduating high school Fred served in the Navy during the Korean War. During this time his family resided in Honolulu, HI. After his service Fred and his family moved back to CA where Fred received his BA in Business Administration from San Jose State University.
Fred was a founding member of St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Rocklin, CA where he was very involved in the Men’s Club. Prior to St. Peter and Paul Church he was an active member of St. Rose Church in Roseville, CA then St. Mary’s in Rocklin, CA.
Fred was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Roseville Chamber of Commerce, past president of the Roseville Host Lion’s Club, a 30 year volunteer and Board Member for St. Vincent de Paul Society, Board of Director of R.A.Y.S. from 1970-1980, he was also the president of The Sierra Family Services.
Fred worked at Coast County Utility Company that became PG&E. He worked there for 35 years. His last position was Manager of the Roseville office.
Fred and his wife Pauline enjoyed to travel and visited many places including Germany, Italy, Hawaii, Mexico, Medjugorje, European River Cruises and Alaska.
Fred is Survived by his beloved wife Pauline T. Wight; children, Fred G. Wight (Kim), Linda C. Wight (Jody Osterweil), Janet C. Tally (Jeffrey), Nancy Wight-Tally (Tony), Lori Alwood (Mike – deceased), Paul J. Wight (Jim Tedder), Margaret L. Starkey (Eric); Grandchildren Cynthia Sqier (Vanny), Jenny Wight, April Lilly (Kevin), Brian Tally, Christine Tally-Bass (Graham), Danny Osterweil (Paulie Mark), Katie Bailey (Paul), Natalie Osterweil, Emma Wight, Carly Starkey, Shoshanna Osterweil, Jacob Starkey, Sierra Massera; Great Grandchildren Addison, Taylor, Luciana, Liberty, Justice, and Elliott; Brother Tom Wight and Nephews Kevin (Vickie) Wight and Russell (Terri) Wight.
In Lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society Roseville Chapter, or a charity of your choice.
A Memorial Mass will be held 10am, Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at St. Paul and St. Peter Catholic Church in Rocklin.
