Gerald W Brockman January 5, 1924 - August 12, 2019 Gerald Brockman was born in Corona, Ca in 1924. He grew up in Corona and met Pauline Sturgis in high school there. They married in June 1943 in Denver CO where he was stationed after being drafted in March 1943. He served in the Army Air Corps until August 1945. They lived in Corona until 1958 when the family moved to Roseville. He went to work for Aerojet, and later was employed in the grocery business as a butcher and in retail sales. He lived in the same house in Roseville for 55 years and had many friends in the neighborhood and the community. Jerry and Pauline traveled extensively around the world - Europe, new Zealand, Greece, East Africa and Hawaii. They also enjoyed camping trips with their family, friends and pets. They especially liked traveling on the California coast and Lake Tahoe areas. Gerry was preceded in death by his loving wife Pauline after 69 years of marriage, and by his parents Roland Brockman and Christine Fredricks Brockman. He is survived by his son Ron Brockman (Karen), daughter Pat Shearer-Young (Don), grandsons Tom Brockman, Kevin Shearer (Erica), granddaughter Melissa Vignau (Jeff) and remembered fondly by his 5 great grandchildren, Kaylee, Kaden, Lily, Luke, and Abbey. He also will be missed by his little poodle Wendy. After Pauline died in 2013, Dad moved to Meadow Oaks Assisted Care where he remained until his death on August 12. He enjoyed living at Meadow Oaks where he often played the piano for other residents and caregivers. He was known for his friendliness, joke telling, and was always in good spirits providing an uplifting message to all. Even in declining health, he remained cheerful and talkative to the end. He had a life well lived and will be missed greatly by family and friends. Services will be held at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon at 12:30 Aug 26 for family and friends.
