At the age of 12, he and his family moved from Arkansas to Vacaville, California.
He worked in the shipyards where he met his beautiful bride to be, Lorrain. Buck eventually went to work for Hadley Auto Transport as a truck driver where he remained until he retired in 1982. At Hadley, he met and worked with folks that became some of his closest and lifelong friends.
Buck was baptized along with older daughter Barbara, in 1957. The Church of Christ was where he met and became a part of a much loved spiritual family. He helped to establish the Church of Christ in both Santa Clara and Loomis, Ca. and was honored to hold the office of Elder for many years. He lived for Sundays and Wednesdays where he could gather, learn and rejoice in the Lord. He continued to worship and praise the Lord until his passing.
Some of the things he enjoyed were outings on his boat with Lorrain and traveling with Lorrain and friends. After retirement, they made their way to many of the Caribbean Islands, Honduras, Alaska, and a wonderful cruise down the Mississippi. In celebration of their 50th anniversary, they traveled to England, Ireland and Scotland with close friends Don and Doris Hopper. They then traveled the U.S., first the Midwest, the Northeast for the fall foliage change and the Southeast to visit incredible plantations. Also, Buck was a master wood worker making many beautiful articles of furniture and decorative pieces that will be handed down for generations and generations.
What he cherished the most were God, his wife, kids, grandchildren and great-grandchild. Family was huge to him. He was never happier than when he was at church with his family, holding one of his grandkids.
The day he went to Heaven he was visited by his great-grandchild, McKenzie, age four. She covered him with kisses and "I love yous" and his smile could not have been bigger... happy he was!
Harold is survived by his wife of 66 years Lorrain, two daughters Barbara and Lyn, son-in-law Dan, five grandchildren: Jonathan, Shawn, Stacey, Trey, and Chelsea, granddaughter-in-law, Lori, great-granddaughter McKenzie, two sisters Audrey and Lorena, brother-in law Hairl, sister-in-laws, Violet and Mickey, nine nieces and four nephews and many many sisters and brothers in Christ.
He will be greatly missed.
