

She was born November 1, 1929, in Bend, Oregon to Graydon and Auda McGreer. She graduated high school from Forest Grove High School in Forest Grove, Oregon where she met her husband Rollin Couper. Rollin and Jackie were married in 1948 and moved to Casper, Wyoming where Rollin worked in the oil industry. They had two children while living in Casper; Robin, born in 1950, and Kevin, born in 1953.
Later in 1953, Rollin and Jackie moved to Moses Lake, Washington to help with a dairy farm that her parents acquired after World War II. Rollin later started his career in the Credit Union business in Moses Lake and Jackie started working at the junior high school as the school secretary. In 1964, they relocated to Davis, California where Rollin managed the Retail Clerks Credit Union in Sacramento. Jackie took a job as secretary at Davis Junior High School and later at Holmes Junior High, where she retired.
Jackie was an avid reader and bridge card player. She and Rollin travelled extensively, both before and after retirement. Jackie was also the family historian and authored several papers chronicling the family heritage. She loved to spend time with friends, children, and grandchildren. Jackie will be remembered by the many, many junior high students that she mentored during her career.
Jackie was preceded in death by her husband Rollin. She is survived by her brother George McGreer (Margie), Salem, Oregon; children, Robin Shurtz (Randy), of Cool, California, and Kevin Couper (Beverly) of Grass Valley, California; grandchildren, Diedre Shurtz of Cool; Lesley Williamson of Citrus Heights, California; Brian Couper (Lesli) of Granite Bay, California; and Michael Couper of Upland, California. Three great grandchildren, Noah Shultz, Tyler Williamson, and Evelyn Couper also survive her.
Graveside Memorial Services will be at 1:00 pm on Saturday, February 19th, at the Davis Cemetery located at 820 Pole Line Road, Davis, CA.
