Joan Louise Clark

Joan was born in Oakland, CA. to George and Edna Souza on June 11, 1939. The family moved to West Sacramento when Joan was a teen and she graduated from James Marshall High School in 1957. Joan married Charles L. Clark in 1961 and they lived in Canoga Park, CA. until they moved to West Sacramento in 1968 and continued living in the Sacramento area raising their four children.

Joan worked for the California Department of Health Services for 15 years. Upon her retirement, she went on to operate a Diet Center and then worked for the California Office of Tourism for 13 years. Joan had a multitude of friends and enjoyed her many travels including Hawaii, Tahiti, Alaska, Mexico, Costa Rica, Panama,Portugal, and France.

Joan's spirit and strength live on in the hearts of her children - Boyd (Jennifer), Scott (2017) (Christy), Kelly Haarmeyer (Craig), Kerry (Ken), and her six grandchildren Griffin, Alex, Emily, Marian, Brandon, Jacey, and great-granddaughter Paige.

She is preceded in death by her spouse Charles, son Scott, parents George and Edna, brother Glenn, brother-in-law Raymond, and sister-in-law Eva Lou.

She is survived by her children, grandchildren, great granddaughter, brother Robert Souza and sister-in-law Sharon Souza, sister-in-law Angeline Souza, and her partner of 27 years Wayne Hitchcock and family.
