Katharine "Kay" G Spiers

Katharine Green Spiers "Kay" died peacefully at her home in Citrus Heights, California on August 7, 2018 with her daughter Ruth by her side. Kay was born March 6, 1924 to Marjorie von Gal and Edwin Hall Green in Danbury, Connecticut. Her sisters Marjorie Green Heyniger "Marni" and Jane Green McLean and her brother Edwin Hall Green "Ed" pre-deceased her. She was very proud of her family who established a successful hat manufacturing business - John W. Green & Sons in 1879 in Danbury, Connecticut. She lived in Danbury during her childhood and early adulthood. She attended college at Cedar Crest College in Allentown, Pennsylvania. On August 26, 1944 she married Arthur Chester Spiers II "Art". Kay and Art were married 53 years until his death in 1997. Soon after they married, Kay moved from Danbury, Connecticut to Fair Oaks, California. Kay was adored and cherished by her husband. Together they owned and operated a dairy farm in Fair Oaks, CA. They built and maintained multiple real estate properties in Fair Oaks and Citrus Heights. They also established a 400-acre cattle ranch in Oregon House, California.
Kay was a one of a kind "farmers wife" who supported her husband in working hard. However, her adventurous and fun-loving personality promoted countless good times spent on the Spiers Ranch and at home creating a lifetime of delightful memories for many family and friends. She was known for her quick wit, infectious smile and vibrant spirit. Kay was fun, feisty and beautiful up until her very last breathe. She is survived by her children Arthur Spiers III and Ruth Spiers-Latondresse and husband Billy Latondresse. Kay is survived by 13 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren of whom she was extremely grateful and proud of always. In addition to her parents, siblings and husband, she was predeceased by her daughter Katharine Spiers "Katie”, her sons Jeffrey Spiers "Jeff" and Nicholas Spiers "Nick" and her grandson Jason Spiers. Services were held and attended by her loved ones.
