Marcelina Hilario Washington was born to Felix and Laureta Hilario on April 26, 1925, in Malabon, Rizal, Philippines. She was one of three siblings. Marcelina married Jerome Randolph Washington on August 21, 1945 in the Philippines. She came to the United States of America on December 4, 1957 with her six children to join her hus-band. They had three additional children in the United States. Marcelina became a United States citizen on February 14, 1967 after completing required courses at Mission Adult High School in December 1966.
Marcelina lived a long life as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and homemaker. Commonly called “Grandmommy”, she loved to cook Filipino cuisine and passed many of her delicious recipes on to her children and grandchildren. Her big warm hugs, infectious laugh, and hilarious anecdotes will be dearly missed, but the memories will be cherished greatly.
Marcelina was preceded in death by her parents, two siblings, one daughter, Erlinda Meadors, and two grandchildren. She leaves to cherish her memory, seven daughters, Shirley de Jesus Bonner, Vivian Mae Gonsolin, Lisbeth Jane Campbell, Claire White- Hilario Washington, Geraldine Washington, Lisa Lorraine Seigle, and Sandra R. Champion, and her only son, Richard Lee Washington; daughter-in-law Patricia Ann Washington; two son-in-laws, Calvin Campbell III and Michael Champion; twenty six grandchildren, twenty two great-grandchildren, and a host of dear friends.
We will miss her more than words can express and she will always be in our hearts.
