

Marge was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on March 31, 1915. She had two brothers and a sister. Upon graduating from high school, Marge worked as a secretary at General Electric until she married Douglas Longacre. Then they moved to Wilobee-on-the-Lake, Ohio where they had a family of two daughters and one son. Doug worked on the Railroad until he was injured and then went to work as a carpenter but there was no work during the cold winters. They moved to California where his parents already lived. Doug, Marge and children lived in the back bedroom of his parents’ until Doug built a new home in Temple City.
Always busy, Marge worked as a secretary for the Clary Corporation for 23 years and then went on to another company that was started by one of the managers, and worked there for another 13 years. They moved to Covina by then and also had built a cabin at Crestline. Marge moved to the cabin after the death of her husband in 1979.
Several years later, Marge married Earl Yoakum, a pattern cutter in the clothing industry. They added his two daughters to the family and moved to a new house in Yucca Valley. Upon retirement they were able to do a lot of traveling with Marge showing Earl some of the countries she had visited. They were married for 20 years before he passed away.
Marge then moved to this area to be closer to her daughter Linda, who lives in Lincoln. Marge first lived at The Cordia and then moved to Mistywood when it opened.
Marge was still keeping both her body and mind on the go. She belonged to a TOPS group in Roseville and attended many of the activities at Mistywood. She regularly attended Bible study and Pleasant Grove Community Church.
She loved to play cards and many board games. She was a whiz at playing pool, and was always ready for a challenge. She carried a Crossword puzzle book and a cribbage board with her in her basket . Marge ends her day with Bingo Ten, Mexican Train or a movie that was showing in the TV Room.
