Born on November 12, 1949, in Long Beach, California, Marilyn brought creativity, laughter, and a love of teaching to every stage of her life. As a child, she delighted family and friends by singing and performing in homemade backyard shows, an early sign of the joy and enthusiasm that would remain with her throughout her life.
Marilyn graduated from Millikan High School in Long Beach and later attended California State University Fullerton. After dedicating herself to raising her daughter with Rick, she returned to college at the age of 40 to earn her Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education, an achievement that reflected her commitment to lifelong learning.
Teaching was not simply a profession for Marilyn, it was her gift. Throughout her life, she found joy in helping others learn and grow. She taught cosmetology in her early years, coached youth tennis teams, taught kindergarten, and in retirement continued sharing her talents by teaching neighborhood children the basics of art. Whether in a classroom, on a tennis court, or at a family gathering, Marilyn had a natural ability to encourage and inspire.
Marilyn was known for her playful spirit and love of laughter. She enjoyed dressing up with friends, organizing parties and social events, and helping coordinate activities and tournaments with her tennis club. Her energy and enthusiasm brought people together and made ordinary moments memorable.
In her later years, Marilyn found happiness in painting, spending time with neighbors, and enjoying conversations with her grandson, family and friends. She treasured those connections and the simple pleasures of everyday companionship.
Marilyn will be remembered for her creativity, generosity, sense of humor, and the lasting impact she made on the many students, friends, neighbors, and family members whose lives she touched.
