Olympia Lyn Parish, 94, entered the presence of her loving Lord on August 16, 2026, at her home with her two daughters and grandson by her side. She preceded her husband, Ralph Wesley Parish, in death by only six days; they were happily married for over 65 years. Lyn resided in Rocklin, California.
Lyn was born on May 17, 1932, in Fresno, CA, to Pericles Dictos and Marika (Tounger) Dictos. When she was just a young child, she was preceded in death by her biological father, Pericles, and was later raised with love by her mother, Marika, and father, Theophanis Kavathas. Her family moved to Oakland, where Lyn grew up alongside her three sisters, Chris Layport, Jeanne Karras, and Susanne Woodhall.
In her early working life, Lyn served as a dental hygienist. Later, she returned to school to become a travel agent, a path that suited her sense of purpose and her appreciation for the wider world. She worked in Menlo Park with Awana Travel for over twenty years, traveling extensively—including a memorable ride on a camel in Egypt—and she took genuine pride and enjoyment in her career.
Lyn and Ralph shared a love of the open road, taking many cross-country trips and savoring the discovery of new sights along the way. Their travels often led them to antique shops, where they delighted in finding and collecting treasures, both large and small—keepsakes that reflected the care and attention they brought to the life they built together.
Among Lyn’s steady joys were gardening and attending several Bible studies. Above all, she loved the Lord and her family with all her heart, with a special devotion to her grandchildren. Lyn is survived by her three children, DiAnna Lynn, Barbra (Bob) Laughlin, and Donald (Sivje) Parish; her four grandchildren, Tyler and Emma Laughlin, and India and Ahnalin Parish; her sister, Susanne (Cookie) Woodhall; and many nieces and nephews.
Lyn is greatly missed.
