

Robert (Bob) Howard passed away at home at the age of 65 on August 13, 2012 following a gallant and courageous 11 year battle with Multiple Myeloma. He was always hopeful and optimist, looking forward to new adventures and times with his family and friends. He was born in Illinois but grew up in Florida where he finished school with a Masters Degree from Florida State University. During graduate school he was drafted for Vietnam and flew mostly the C-5s and C-141s. He remained in the Air Force Reserves retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel. He began his career with United Airlines in 1979 and retired in 2007 as a captain flying his favorite plane, the B-747-400. During his career he also held various positions from Director of Flight Operations Standardization to Manager of 737 Training Fleet at United Airlines.
He married his college sweetheart in 1969 and after several relocations they raised their son and daughter in Evergreen, Colorado. He enjoyed volunteering as cub scout leader, soccer coach and as a varsity football coach. His loved taking adventure trips with his family to various locations around the world and also learning to do new things from scuba diving to fly fishing. After retirement they enjoyed a beach front home in Florida and eventually living in San Diego and Sacramento.
He will be very missed by his wife, Linda of 43 years, a son, Sean and daughter, Kristen along with his brother, mother, father, aunt, uncle, nieces and nephews.
