He is survived by his beautiful wife of 70+ years, Ernie Leon, his children Rudy Leon Jr. (Cherie), Kathy Sharpe (Jim) and Eileen Wann (Dennis); his seven grandchildren: Sabrina, Jose, Tony, Ryan, Melissa, Dennis and Sara; and his six great-grandchildren.
Rudy was born in Los Angeles, CA on December 4, 1930 to Ysaias and Concepcion Leon. He grew up in the Los Angeles area, went to the Air Force and later moved to northern California with his wife and two small children after working at Lockheed Missiles and Space in Sunnyvale. He started out as a draftsman and worked his way up to Senior Design Engineer after a 32-year career there.
Rudy was a devoted husband and loving father. He loved to fish and was a huge baseball (Los Angeles Dodgers) fan. He coached Little League while his son played through Senior Little League. And even after that, he continued to coach just because he loved it. The house in Cupertino was a hang-out for the kids on our street and other friends. My parents would come out of the house while we played on the street and sit on the tailgate of the station wagon to make sure everyone was safe until the street light came on and we all had to go home for the night.
After moving to Granite Bay in 1999, Rudy got involved with St. Joseph Marello Catholic Parish back in the days in the gym. He also joined the Knights of Columbus and earned his 3rd degree with the Knights
