Susan Dorothy Allen

Susan Dorothy Allen (nee Shearer), age 85, passed away June 24, 2026 in Broomfield, Colorado. Susan was born on August 24, 1940 to Clifford William and Matilda Philip Shearer (nee Sanborn) in Marion, Iowa. During WWII, her family migrated west, eventually settling in Roseville, California. After graduating from Roseville High School in 1958, Susan married her high school sweetheart, Louis B. (Mickey) Allen, Jr. They were soon joined by their two daughters, Deborah Sue and Kathleen Matilda. Susan raised the girls while working part to full time throughout their childhood.

Susan had an active social life, and loved entertaining. She could whip up a meal for 10 on short notice when Mickey informed her that he was bringing home company for dinner. After the loss of Mickey in 1989, all friends and family knew that if her garage door was open, cocktails and snacks were available.

Susan is survived by her daughters Deb Allen and Kathleen Allen David; brother Philip Shearer and wife Peggy; grandchildren Kathleen Hendershot (husband Braxton Ozenna), Katie Papa (husband Joe), Zack David (wife Abbey Sisti) Samantha Drake (husband Alex) and Jagger Caldwell. She has two great-grandchildren including Jordan (Katie and Joe) and Sean (Samantha and Alex). She was preceded in death by her husband Mickey, and brothers Bill, Joe, and John.

A service is scheduled for Susan at Lambert’s Funeral Home, 400 Douglas Blvd, Roseville, California at 2 pm on July 9, 2026. Donations in her memory can be made to the charity of your choice.
