Bill passed away peacefully, joining the ranks of his fallen brothers of the "Proud But Few" on Memorial Day. Chicago born and raised, Bill joined the Marine Corp at the onset of World War II. He served in the Air Corp with honor and distinction as a B25 radio gunner in the pivotal Pacific Islands campaign.
Shortly after discharge in November 1945, Bill attended DePaul University. In 1947 he met and married Helen Varrial who became his life long love and companion of 64 years. They moved west in 1958 living in the San Francisco Bay Area, the Central Valley and the Sacramento Area.
Bill and Helen have resided in Roseville for the past 18 years. Bill's quick wit and attention to detail served him well in a long and successive career in sales with the tire industry and AT&T.
An avid golfer and bowler, Bill also enjoyed poker and solving crossword puzzles.
Bill & Helen raised 5 children - Michael, James, William (Paula), Diane and Patricia.
He was preceded in death by son Michael Strubing, grandson Billy Strubing and Son-in-Law Mike Dougherty.
He is survived by eight grandchildren: Erin (Steve), Jenna, Jason (Shaena), Justin, Jennifer (Larry), Jamie (David), Sean and Grant; eight great grandchildren: Trinity, Ella, Madilyn, Joya, Natalya, Gavin, Alek and Brendon.
