Son of the late Irwin and Wanda (Buczkowski) Armstrong, Bob was a long-time resident of Roseville, Michigan. He was predeceased by his brother John (Alice) Armstrong. He was a loving uncle to two nieces, Robin (Bill) Jorrey and Nancy (Joe) Armstrong, also to their families: one great niece and several great and grand nephews.
He was a graduate of Sacred Heart High School in 1968. He was employed by, and ultimately retired from, Roseville Community Schools, where he met his wife. Bob and Rebecca (Lehnert) Armstrong shared some thirty years together, having twice married each other, in a reconciliation brought about by God and great love.
Bob was an amazing step-father to Nathan (Michelle) Petrusak, Justin Petrusak, and Sarah (Jeffrey) Wyman. He was always patient, fun-loving, and involved in various school projects and with scouts. Planning and taking the kids on several vacations, Bob was the perfect balance of a responsible parent and a friend. Later, as grandchildren came, “Grampy” was loved so very much by Aria and Eva because he played with them, gave great hugs, and made great animal sounds. He was dearly loved by Iris, because he was funny and made her laugh, and by Elias, who enjoyed building things with him. Clearly Grampy’s legacy will live on into future generations.
Other surviving family members include many cousins on his mother’s side. There was always great fun to be had with the Habereks who, as children, lived across the back gate in Roseville. His Armstrong and Witucki relatives on the “west side” enjoyed picnics, holidays, and dinners together. Most continue to reside in Michigan, and also California. Extended family was very important to Bob.
So who was Bob Armstrong? He was a loving, gentle soul, yet strong and determined. He loved rock n’ roll, old movies, and dogs, with a heart for old ones. He was witty and a good conversationalist. He played the guitar and sang with a group down in his basement, and with a two-man group, “Dem Guys,” at a bar in Mt. Clemens. Bob had a unique artistic vision, and was always sketching things to build and finding projects to work on. He liked the Tigers and loved the Lions. Most importantly, he looked for the good in people and the positives in any circumstance. Every day had potential, and problems were opportunities to find solutions. Much like repurposing used wood, there were always possibilities with Bob.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, May 19, 2026 from 3PM until 8PM with a Service at 6:30PM at Kaul Funeral Home, 27830 Gratiot Avenue, Roseville, MI 48066. Please share a memory with the family on Bob’s online guestbook.
