A Man
A man so loving to be around,
A man that said when u fell did you hurt the ground?
A man that could show happy faces when u were feeling so blue,
A man that just was there at the right time and knew just what to do,
A man that would make sure ur belly was not to ache,
A man that gave his all without a breath to take.
A man that could turn night into day,
A man that was just a man with no words left to say!
Grandpa, dang I miss ya just like those around,
We traveled in our cars and come from town to town,
It was 1985 and the 90s I'll miss the most,
I met the best person that 1 could call Grandpa
so many school rides and sleep overs,
The man let us have his bed and on the couch he would rest his head,
and make you oatmeal in the morning cause he knew how to keep one fed,
So many stories I'll say just a few,
The year was 1990, ninja turtles live action came out,
I was a huge fan, and still am but keep it a low key more now.
I guess age does that to one, anyhow I was awoken out of sleep and there in my front room was Grandpa holding the
complete set of Burger King kid's meals toys and the 3 vhs cartoons for the turtle's movie,
he was someone if u liked it or even put ur mind to wanting it he made it happen,
I knew by then I had the coolest grandpa on earth,
Who else has a grandpa to come over at 8 o'clock at night on a school night and buy all the kids on the block an icecream.
or, you knew it was him coming down the street playing classic hits like, Wabash cannon ball, one of my favs now,
We will meet again and have so much more laughs to share,
and I know u have the stories to tell when I see u there.

Unfortunately I didn't learn of Darrel's passing until Saturday.

Darrel and I  were friends from our St. Clair Grade School and Foch Intermediate.  We chummed around at the St Clair Recreation Center playing ball or swimming in it pool. We lost track after high school but ran into each other at the Meijer's Store after his retirement from the Railroad. I would go to his store just to be able to have many laughs of our fun times growing up. 
 His family lived on Montclair north of Canfield and my on Beniteau north of Canfield. 
He will be very dearly missed by his family and friends.
My sincere condolence to the family.

Dear Sweet Uncle Bub,
When I think of you, I think my youth and spending time with you.  
Sundays in the swimming pool, or listening to you "play" the piano and singing Hank Williams. Always feeling at home.
