Dorothy Mai Hensley, a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend to many, passed away peacefully at the age of 92 on Saturday, September 6, 2025. She was born in Trenton, Tennessee, on April 24, 1933. Her life was a testament to God's Love and family, rooted in Detroit, Michigan, for many years before she settled in Port Charlotte, Florida in 2018.
Dorothy's greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her two loving daughters-in-law, Cindy Hensley and Maria Hensley. She was a doting grandmother to her three grandchildren, Brandon Hensley, Rebecca (Hensley) Busby, and Andres Hensley, and a proud great-grandmother to her great-grandson, Kayden Busby.
Dorothy enjoyed the simple things in life and found her greatest happiness at home. She loved nothing more than indulging in BBQ ribs while enjoying her favorite TV shows. Her home was often filled with the soulful sounds of her beloved Blues music, a constant companion that brought her great comfort and joy. Dorothy's quiet strength and appreciation for life's simple pleasures will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
A viewing will be held in her honor at Kaul Funeral Home, 27830 Gratiot Ave, Roseville, MI 48066, on Thursday, September 18, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Kidney Fund.
