Elizabeth was born on December 4, 1956, in Cook County, Illinois, to Howard R. Johnson and Patricia (Greene) Johnson. She grew up alongside her sisters, horses, and dogs, enjoying a simple, vibrant life in rural Long Grove. Elizabeth graduated from Lake Zurich High School in 1974. Following graduation, her curiosity took her to Michigan, where she attended the University of Michigan, studying philosophy.
After college, Elizabeth's journey took her across the country working as a travel agent. She later became a nanny, a role that allowed her to once again travel the world. She eventually settled back down in Michigan, working for many years for the Art Van Furniture Company, where she became very close with the Van Elslander family.
In the 1990s, Elizabeth met the love of her life, Robert Clark. They shared a beautiful life together and were married on January 28, 2006, at the Wintergreen Resort in Wintergreen, Virginia. Happily married for 20 and a half years, they made their home in Grosse Pointe, Michigan.
Elizabeth had an immense love for her dogs, Glock and Beenie, and cherished spending time with them and her friends at the local dog park. She possessed a wonderful sense of humor, a trait she fondly inherited from her father. Elizabeth also had a unique passion for collecting celebrity autographs; her impressive collection spanned from Barbara Eden, Clint Eastwood, and Ann-Margret, all the way to members of the Supreme Court of the United States—nothing short of amazing.
Elizabeth is preceded in death by her father, Howard R. Johnson; her mother, Patricia (Greene) Johnson; and her sisters, Amanda Hart, Regina Hart, and Samantha (Dennett) Kozak.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Robert Roy Clark; her sister, Sarah Crysler Johnson (Lake Geneva); her nieces, Lace Greene Atkinson (Lake Geneva) and Lexi Kozak (Whitewater); her nephews, Tynan Howard Atkinson (Hawaii) and Oliver Kozak (Elkhorn); her great-niece, Jade Sulser (Elkhorn) and brother-in-law, Edward Kozak (Elkhorn).
In Elizabeth's honor donations may be made to the ASPCA.
A Memorial Service will be held in a couple of weeks. More information will follow.
