

John J. Zoccola, 89, of Marine City (formerly of Roseville) passed away Sunday, August 28, 2011 at home. Mr. Zoccola served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and was a member of VFW Cpl. Neil Reid Post 2358. Mr. Zoccola was a general contractor in the Macomb county area for many years then became active in county politics as a County Commissioner. He was Chairman of the Macomb County Board of Commissioners for 3 years. Mr. Zoccola was a Road Commissioner for Macomb County for 26 years. He is survived by his son, John (Arlene), daughters, Carol Brick, and Riea (Steven) Lainoff, 10 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Mr. Zoccola was pre-deceased by his wife of 54 years, Marcella, son, Raymond; 4 sisters, and 1 brother. Visitation is Thursday (Sept. 1, 2011) from 5:00 – 9:00 p.m. and Friday from 3:00 – 9:00 p.m. from 2:30 – 9 p.m. at Kaul Funeral Home 35201 Garfield Road, Clinton Township.
