To the Zoccola family: my deepest sympathy for the loss of my friend John.  I just became aware of his passing, and I have so many great memories of John Z.I am sure he is looking down and is happy that his Lions are finally winning games, as we spent many Sundays together in the Silverdome.  It was an honor to know him. A good friend is hard to find, hard to lose, and impossible to forget.

I remember your Dad fondly  He was very kind and a great public servant.  He helped me get my first job at Martha T Berry Hospital in the Occupational Therapy Department,, I received my bachelors in Occupational Therapy.  He also helped me get my first full time job in the Macomb County Clerk's office.  Later in life I worked for Wayne County Executive Ed McNamara, married a judge and was elected twice to Grosse Pointe Woods City Council.  Yes your Dad had a great impact on my life!  Rest in Peace kind good sir.. PS I remember Arizona!

Your dad was an amazing man. I am so glad we were neighbors for all these years. Sitting on the porch talking to him was one of the highlights of coming out to Marine City. He will truly be missed. Every time I see a lighthouse I will think of him.

John was a great guy always had a smile for you. Sometimes quite but always thinking down the road. I had a great amount of affection for John. I always enjoyed going to lunch with John and Joe Perry. When these guys got together it was always a lot of fun. I was truly lucky to have know John.

I knew Mr. Zoccola while he was at the Road Commission.  He was a very kind man and had a perpetual smile on his face. My condolences to his wonderful family.

I worked at the Road Commission and Mr. "Z" was a good man. Always ready with a friendly hello and smile.

Uncle John was our next door neighbor and it was when they moved in that the Aunt & Uncle became a part of us in lieu of Mr. & Mrs. Zoccola. To this day I still refer to them as Aunt Marcie & Uncle John. Carol and I grew up as good friends and stood in each others weddings. Their family was our family. I remember Uncle John and working on his elections and working the polls for him as I respected, trusted and believed in him. I felt very blessed to be invited and attend his 89th birthday party in July and reuniting with him and the family. A great loss to all, but know he was much loved by his family. Thank you for the pleasure.

Wow. Where to start. My "Uncle John" (I was his next door neighbor) was a kind hearted, generous and compassionate man who gave me so much. I looked up to him as a great family man, elected official and business person. He and Aunt Marcie were the greatest neighbors any person could have. It was as if I had 2 homes as they opened their home to our family as if it was ours. Riea and I were in the pool every day, it seemed. I will remember the times at the pool with the whole Zoccola clan and Uncle John cooking at the grill ensuring that all had a great time. I will smile each time I think of him. It is with deepest regret that I will miss the celebration of his great life as I am out of the country and cannot return in time. All of my love and sympathy to the whole Zoccola family for your loss. You are all in my prayers.

I would just like to say a Thank You to John and his family. This spring I had the honor to give  John and John Jr. a helping hand with some of John's needs.  At the time I was going thru some personal issues and enjoyed the days of having a new friend.  My time with John became total joy.  I believe things happen for a reason and John being around this summer was I believe to be my angel, laugh with me, bring me joy in making him laugh was my honor.  I'm gonna miss his treats of being socked in the nose if I didn't behave.  I am so glad he is at peace with his other family members,  I heard so many stories of his wife and former son.  He has work to do in another place now and he will be bringing joy there also.  I will never see bunnies, birds or squirrel's the same way again.  I will now see him smiling when I see them. I am so thankful.  John I will always love you and your precious moments of life.   Thank you
