Joe had a true passion for so many hobbies and adventures. Joe spent some time living and working in many places including Hawaii, Israel and for 20 years in Southern California before returning home to Michigan. He enjoyed traveling as much as he could to nearly every state from Maine to California, Texas to North Dakota, many trips to Florida and one of his favorite spots in Indian River on Burt Lake. Joe was a true Jack of All Trades who amazed many with his knowledge and ability to fix just about everything from plumbing, appliances, electrical and most of all, old cars which were his favorite projects. He would say he could "fix everything except a broken heart".
Joe enjoyed watching old black and white films, especially westerns and good cowboy films. Listening to oldies even on AM stations and reminiscing. Jigsaw puzzles on his computer or going out for a good meal with family and friends.
Joe appreciated the peace and beauty of the outdoors, hiking and exploring, campfires, swimming and just being close to the water, watching the delicate birds in the trees and flying free in the sunrises and sunsets. Watching the animals in nature and even the fireflies in the yard. Just sitting in the glorious sun and finding peace. Joe loved watching the Tall Ships go by on Lake St. Clair, St. Clair River and Detroit River and when he couldn’t watch in person, he would find them online. He loved learning about and exploring Trains and every Railroad Track he could find to share with his family. Nothing brought Joe greater pride than being a great father and the best grandpa. He cherished every moment he had with friends and family in person or on the phone but mostly sharing nature trails with his son Justin and all the baseball moments with his grandson Sylas.
Joe’s most endearing attribute was unwavering Faith and dedication to God, Jesus and our Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God. Joe was a devout Catholic who was for many, a role model in being Humble, having Grace, belief in the Power of Prayer and Rosary. Joe provided the example of what it means to be a servant to others and a Follower of our Lord.
Joe has been described as an "Angel on Earth" and will be missed by so many.
