Laurie was a pillar of commitment and hard work, dedicating over 50 years of service to Comerica Bank before her well-earned retirement. Beyond her impressive professional achievements, Laurie’s true happiness was found in the quiet, beautiful moments of life. She was an avid reader who could always be found lost in a good book, and she often enjoyed video games and watching her Soaps. Above all else, Laurie’s greatest joy was her family.
Beloved wife of James, married for 47 years. Loving mother of James L. Downey (Daniell) and Lindsey A. Downey (Stephanie). Proud grandmother of Olivia and Patricia and great-grandmother of Jaden Jr. Dearest sister of Joetta and Bernadette. Laurie was predeceased by her parents Joseph and Pearl Vandervest; her siblings Joe, Ruben and Darlene. She will also be missed by her cats, Rowdy and Callie.
