He took great pride in being a lifelong resident of Detroit. As a devout Catholic he took pleasure from attending as many Detroit area churches as he could. Among his favorites was St. Bonaventure Monastery, where he always took part in the midnight mass on Christmas Eve. He worked through to retirement for Northern Engineering. However, most will remember him as “the Plumber”. Louis was an independent self-employed plumber who was actually passionate about the trade. He specialized in repairing historic homes with antique systems. He often had one or more of his nephews (and nieces) assisting him. He most enjoyed teaching techniques to the next generation. Louie's other passion was pets. Over the years he has had many cats and dogs, and always supported pet rescues.
Louis was preceded in death by his parents Louis A. Sr. and Theresa. He was the loving brother of Theresa (the late Raymond) Kuhn, Dolores (the late Stanley) Peltier, the late Gloria (Frank) Legnine, and Iris (the late Ray) Searcy. He was the wonderful uncle of 18 nieces and nephews and 28 great-nieces and nephews, including the late Jeffery Kuhn, and many great-great-nieces and nephews.
A memorial mass will be held at a later date. Donations are appreciated to ASPCA. Please share a memory of Louie at www.kaulfuneralhome.com
