Mary Lou Redfern, age 83, passed away on September 19, 2026. Born on October 8, 1942, to parents Zigmund and Elizabeth Baxter. Mary Lou lived a life marked by steady devotion, gentle kindness, and a faith that shaped the way she moved through the world and cared for others.
Mary Lou graduated from a St. Elizabeth Catholic School, an early foundation that reflected the values she carried forward throughout her life.
For many years, Mary Lou worked as a clerical secretary for Michigan Bell. In that role, she brought the quiet dependability and considerate spirit that so often defined her presence—someone others could count on, and someone who made everyday moments a little easier through simple, thoughtful care.
Mary Lou was very social and deeply involved in her church and church community, where her faithful commitment and warm regard for others were evident. She loved spending time with friends and going out to eat, and she could never pass up a good garage sale. When she could, she enjoyed taking in a good play. Above all, Mary Lou loved her family dearly, holding those closest to her with a steadfast and cherished devotion.
Mary Lou was the cherished sister to Barbara (William) Buhl. She is the loving aunt to Margaret (Michael) Schaff. Great Aunt to Emily, Eric, Samantha, Kim and Kelly. Great-Great Aunt to Olive, Evelyn, Emmett, Erin, Nicole, Joey, Murphy, Ken, and Jake. Dear sister-in-law to Donna Baxter.
Mary Lou was preceded in death by her parents, brother Jack Baxter, and nephew John Sandomierski.
Mary Lou will be missed by all those who knew her well.
Mary Lou will lie in-state on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, beginning at 9:30 am, until time of mass at 10:30 am, at Holy Innocents St. Barnabas Church 26100 Ridgemont Street, Roseville, Michigan 48066.
Mary Lou will be laid to rest at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Township, Michigan following mass.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations in memory of Mary Lou are suggested to Penrickton Center for Blind Children, 26530 Eureka Road, Taylor, Michigan 48180 or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
