

Mitchell A. Turbak, age 91, of Roseville, February 28, 2017. Beloved husband of Dorothy for 64 years; devoted father of Kathleen Vogel; cherished grandfather of Jamie (Nick Seibert) Briggs and Keith (Thelma) Briggs; and a very great-grandfather to Ariella and Isabel. Mitch is also survived by his sister, Irene Wosik. He was predeceased by his mother, Josephine (John) Gach, father, Andrew Turbakiewicz, brothers, Billy Turbakiewicz and John Gach III, and son-in-law, Frederick Vogel. Mitch was born in Hamtramck and graduated from high school there in 1944. He served during WWII in the U. S. Navy aboard the USS Hanover in the South Pacific. He met his love Dorothy in 1948 after discharge, marrying her in 1952. He completed his Bachelor of Science from the University of Detroit in 1950. Mitch retired from Stroh’s Brewery in 1988 after 24 years at Stroh’s and 13 years at Goebel’s. Mitch was a family man and took great pride in taking care of, not only his wife and child, but also his mother and brother and in later years his grandchildren; attending most of their sport and school activities. He enjoyed family gatherings playing with his great-grandchildren and was an avid Tiger’s fan. He was a member of the St. Clair Shores Senior Center and played many years on their Bocce Ball team. Mitch was chairman of the United Way Drive while employed. In later years, he was a member of St. Vincent de Paul. The family will receive friends Friday 3:00 until 9:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. Scripture Service at Kaul Funeral Home, 27830 Gratiot Ave., Roseville, MI. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, March 4, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Basil the Great Church, 22851 Lexington, Eastpointe, MI. Interment will take place 9:30 a.m. Monday, March 6, 2017 at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, MI. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of your choice.
