Robert Louis Cloyd

Robert Louis Cloyd, born in Detroit on November 21, 1951, died September 1, 2025, in St. John Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. He was 73 years old. Beloved husband of Rufina (Ruth) for 54 years, although they had no children of their own, he raised his nephew John as his own.

Son of Robert F. Cloyd and Dorothy (Cloyd) Atkinson (both deceased). Brother of Judith, Susan (D 2006), Jane, and Ronald. Uncle of numerous nieces and nephews.

After graduating high school, Robert felt called to serve and enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps. Upon completing his military service, he began a career working in the auto industry, in the computer field at Ford Motor Company, where he worked for many years. However, he found his true passion and calling during his second career at Home Depot, where he worked happily for more than 20 years before retiring.

Per Robert's wishes, there will be no funeral or visitation. A military honors service will be held at Great Lakes National Cemetery to honor his service to his country on Monday, September 22, 2025, at 10:30 AM.
