

Rolland “Rolly” Thornton, age 87, passed away on August 17, 2013, surrounded by his family at home in Lawrenceville, GA. Born August 5, 1926 in Belleair, OH to Nellie and Watson Thornton, Rolland was a former resident of Roseville since boyhood. He owned Rolly’s Super Market during the 1960’s and 70’s. He moved to Lawrenceville in 1973 and was owner of North American Theatrical Photographers. Beloved husband of the late Lilah (Skinner) of 63 years. Loving father of Donna (Larry) Dzieszko, Rolland James (Diane), Michael (Marianne) and Patrick. Proud grandfather of 13 and great grandfather of 21. Survived by nieces, nephews, and extended family members Sandy Thornton, Karen St. Anne, Darlene Starver, Sharon Biggs, and Rolland Laethem. Preceded in death by his daughter, Laureen Arnone, sister, Beatrice Shockey, and brothers, Howard and Walker “Bucky” Thornton. Visitation will be Friday, August 23, 2013 from 3-9 p.m. at Kaul Funeral Home in Roseville. The funeral service will be Saturday, August 24, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow for family only at Saint Mary Cemetery, New Baltimore, MI. Those desiring may make contributions in memory of Rolland Thornton to the American Cancer Society.
