Mrs. Shirley J. Pelt, 91 of Roseville, Michigan (Marietta, GA) died peacefully on July 19, 2020, at Tranquility Hospice in Marietta, GA. She was born on September 4, 1928, in Turtle Creek, PA to the late Henry and Amy (Olsson) Hodgson. On October 1, 1948, she married her husband, Royce Lee Dyer and together the couple celebrated 44 years of marriage before his passing in 1993. She remarried Peter John Pelt on July 30, 1996 and celebrated 13 years of marriage before his passing in 2009. In 2017 she moved to Marietta, GA to live with her son and daughter-in-law. Shirley enjoyed playing cards, swimming and walking the beaches in Caseville and Florida, playing golf, riding her bicycle, shopping for clothes for herself and everybody else, working at the Senior Centers, volunteering in her church, socializing in every club possible and spoiling her grandchildren. Above everything she enjoyed taking care of others.
She is survived by her sons, Dr. Gordon (Deanna) Wayne Dyer, Esq. of Hobbs, NM; Gary Edward (Leslie) Dyer of Marietta, GA; Five grandchildren, Alicia, Kristina, Eric, Danielle, and Jordan; three great-grandchildren, Isabella, Jaxson and Reese. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry, and Amy Hodgson; brothers, Pearson, Henry, Voight, George, and Fred; and sisters, Ruth Anderson, Miriam Houle, and Jean Clifford.
As were her wishes, a memorial service will be held. The family has chosen to remember Shirley privately at this time.
