Steve's passing is a huge loss to our world! That a world so often filled with hatred should lose such a loving, funny and giving person is so unfair.  I was only his "Gym Wife" and friend for a couple of years  but Steve made life better not only for me but for all who had the good fortune to be anywhere near him! The gym will never be the same without him there. We would laugh, share stories and kid around the whole time we would be on the treadmill and at the gym. He will be so missed ... His presence enriched lives everywhere. I am so heartbroken.... for all of us.

Steve.. Ohh My there has never been another like you! Mom's neighbor & a friend to us both.  Steve, as all who know him best, definitely experienced .. Yep, his uplifting  soul.. jokester,  caring, Happy go Lucky  nature & indeed great roofer.  Lol,  you best believe he finally got mom (86 yrs old) to replace her garage roof last summer.  She was a tough sale.. yet Steve softened mom.. restoring her belief in fantastic workmanship ~ with his honesty, integrity, professionalism in business.  Steve always checked on & chatted with mom.. soothed her worries of me & my family... with his upbeat positive, lickey split, joking comebacks, which gave mom no time to concentrate on being blue! Helped her with the snow, as well as extended his help with whatever she might need. Thank You Steve for all you did.  We had many interesting, positive talks where he would look to help me with family struggles.. to which I am grateful.. for his advise, care & concern.  Mom & I were just wondering, last week when Mom was going to see you walking on by, she & I were looking forward to seeing you, with all your energy, enthusiasm, grand smile & welcomed chats. Mom loved your new truck, she was very happy for you! A Real Gem ~ YOU STEVE!! Our Hearts are deeply saddened. Many lives were made better knowing you Steve, it's been an honor! You are already greatly missed. Our deepest sympathy to daughter Jessica, grandson's, all family and friends.  Sending Prayers.. I read all the comments, Wonderful, the people who's lives you have touched.. Human Angel returns home. Until we meet again.. much Love.

Steve was such a nice guy!!! I met him through Mouse many years ago while working at the City Water Dept. He roofed my house twice, garage, rental property and daughters house. Worked with him at the DPW re: the schools. Always willing to help any way he could, always a smile, a really great guy. So sad to see him go. 💕

I didn't know Steve for very long but we shared some things together especially recalling 
our time in service to our country. He was a good man who will be missed. The following is an excerpt from a poem that I think fits the moment.

He was just a common soldier and his ranks are growing thin,
But his presence should remind us we may need his like again.
For when countries are in conflict, then we find the soldier's part
Is to clean up all the troubles that the politicians start.

If we cannot do him honor while he's here to hear the praise,
Then at least let's give him homage at the ending of his days.
Perhaps just a simple headline in a paper that would say,
Our Country is in mourning, for a soldier died today.



Mary and I are truly sorry for the loss of Steve.  Our hearts go out to his family and many friends, in particular his daughter Jessica and his grandsons.

What an upbeat guy!  I met Steve through one of his passions...Corvettes back in 2011.   Steve was on a roof doing what he does best in my old neighborhood and got wind of my old Vette and the rest is history...a history of good times with a lot of wrenching on our Vettes.  Steve always spoke highly of his daughter and grand kids.  Over the years since, we got to know Steve dropping by to say (as others here mentioned ) "how ya' doing'?"

I do want to share some happy times in that old neighborhood.   Steve got to know my garage pretty well.  A mutual friend, Jim Minton and myself did a lot of wrenching on Steve's '75 Vette.  My garage was known as J&J's (Jim & Jim).  I wanted to share a pic here of a smiling Steve picking up his pride and joy back in 2011, but will instead give the pics to Jessica today.

We are stunned at Steve's passing.  One of the good guys in our life.

Jesus Christ, Son of the Living God, have mercy on Steve's soul.  May he rest in peace.

Steve-Always enjoyed our conversations after work or before settling in for the night. Your positive attitude was infectious. I feel so fortunate that Teddy got to have you in his life as he would say, "Uncle Steve, he's silly!" Summer  won't be the same without you here. You could feel the excitement you had  to come to Maine as your phone calls would become more frequent as your arrival was getting closer. Your love for walks around the boulevard. Drives up the coast. Your request for mom's veal cutlets. When I made them for you, I think you ate 7?! You didn't care what we did as long as it was with family.  Christmastime..You would start calling about, a month ahead asking "what can we get your ma, and I ain't going to get her scratch tickets or cigarettes!" and "all I want is something with Corvette on it!" Most of all, the last line of your phone calls when you would say "Keep up the good work!"Always giving support to others and making sure all was ok. Good night Uncle Steve, We love you. 

Steve was just at our house last weekend!  I am shocked and saddened to hear this news!  Steve was one of the most kind hearted human beings on this earth.  I met him about 15 years ago and he would always drive by the house and stop to chat.  Even if I was out for a walk he would pull in the nearest driveway just to say hello!  He will be missed by many!  Heaven certainly gained another Angel!  Rest in Peace my dear friend!!

Steve was always a friend to the Smigielski’s. Stopping in to say hello to my folks Mary and Bob. If anything was needed, he would offer to help. If I was home for a visit, he saw my car, he would stop in to say hello. Always with a smile, happy to chat, always willing to help.

Mr. Steve or Mr. C (that's what all of us kids in the neighborhood called him) gave us so many laughs and memories! He always had a smile on his face. Always threw his hand in the air when I would honk " hello" to him driving past, even when he didn't know who was doing the honking lol. My grandpa used to call my name outside when it was time to come in. It sounded like he was saying nickel.  Mr. C nicknamed me Penny. I'm am very saddened by his passing. Mr. C was a legend in that blue corvette! We will all miss him so much.

Met Steve through neighbor Dave C. Steve was a great person to have conversations with. Steve would educate me like my Grandfather would. Steve followed me from parts store to parts store, he would visit me regularly to ask about parts for the Vette or the Camaro. Never will forget when he bought the 6 foot giraffe from our garage sale and drove away with it in the passenger side of the Corvette.  Kept telling him to stay on the ground, but you couldn't keep Steve off the roofs. We shared the same passion for cleaning cars and he would always come by and show off his truck. Our family will miss you Steve.

My dear “cuz” Steve I can’t believe we have lost you so soon after just chatting with you last weekend & making big plans for Maine to celebrate mom’s 86th birthday in August.  You brought so much joy to my life with your almost daily text msgs saying “keep smiling....be happy”.   You were always so positive & such an inspiration to me......my hero.  My heartfelt sympathy to your family that meant so much to you.  Love you forever!

I  have  known Steve for 40 years. He gave me my 1st work experience as an early teen doing roofing with him. We shared our love of classic muscle cars  and frequented the harper cruise together often.  He walked the neighbor hood daily and never passed my parents house without stopping in to see how they were doing, He loved to harass my dad and when he had passed last year he made it a point to check in on my mother on a daily basis, Just to make sure she was ok or if she needed anything at all. For that I will always be grateful. Steve we will love and miss you always. Rest in peace.

     Steve entered a restaurant, business or social gathering the same way, "How ya doing?" And he greeted every veteran with, "You doing ok?" and a fist bump. If it was a Marine, he added, "Semper Fi".
    If Castellucci couldn't help you with your problem, he knew someone who could. He always knew a guy, who knew a guy who could help.  He spent his days networking,  keeping busy.
    I want to be mad at him for leaving us all too soon.  But I figure someone on the other side needs him. I like to think, even over there, Steve knows a guy, who knows someone, who can help. And he's as busy now as ever.
    He had to leave when he did. His way. In his own home. With no notice.

Steve always brightened our days, and we are so thankful for all of the happy times that we spent with him in Connecticut and in Maine.   We will miss him very much....and he will live forever in our hearts.  We love you, Steve!

Our beloved cousin and friend....our hearts are broken at the loss of “Crazy Steve”.  Memories of times together at Old Orchard Beach and walks on the Promenade in Maine will forever be etched in our minds and on our hearts.  Steve’s awesome personality, great pep talks, big hugs, and infectious smile will never be forgotten!  His love for his family, and especially for his daughter and grandsons, was a hallmark for who he was.  Life will not be the same without him!  Love you Steve!!

I WORKED WITH STEVE AT THE CITY OF ROSEVILLE D.P.W. FOR YEARS, WE ALSO PLAYED ON THE SAME SOFTBALL TEAMS. HE ROOFED 3 OF MY HOUSES AND WAS A GOOD FRIEND.  I'M SHOCKED THAT HE HAS PASSED AWAY.  I WILL MISS HIM AND CHERISH  HIS MEMORY.
